S&T Project, The Lalit, awarded Best Boutique Hotel 2017

Company : S&T Interiors and Contracting

Location: London, UK

On 9 November 2017 The Lalit was awarded ‘Best Boutique Hotel – European and International’ at the European Hospitality Awards 2017. Competition was tough, being a worldwide award, and the project triumphed against hotels including the Jannah Place Dubai Marina and NH Collection, Amsterdam.

Situated on the South Bank in the Tower Bridge Conservation Area, the Lalit London occupies the former Grade II Listed home of renowned, historic London grammar school, St Olave’s.

To create this 70 bed hotel, an ambitious and sensitive restoration programme, including a new slate roof, was initiated to restore the building to its former splendour. The original plaster cornices and dado mouldings were kept throughout and refurbished, as were all the windows and doors, with non-original windows being replaced with new timber windows that replicate the original design.

The team established a close working relationship to create a bespoke boutique hotel encapsulating both the educational heritage of the building and an authentic Indian experience with the luxury of high-end modern design.
